If you enjoy raising creatures and have been looking for something new, Blue Isle Studios has announced the launch of a playtest for their newly announced open-world survival sandbox, Guardians of the Wild Sky.
In this game, you explore a world up in the sky. It consists of over a thousand large floating islands, each of which will feel different due to the variety of biomes, hazards, layouts, and enemies. Your goal will be to venture deep into dangerous dungeons and fight huge bosses. To do so, you need to craft better armor and weapons, and make use of the capturing feature. Similar to games like Palworld, there are magical creatures that you can capture and raise. They will help you around the base with tasks like watering plants or building, but they can also fight alongside you.
Of course, to get around in this world, you need a flying vessel of some kind. But why just settle for a ship when you can build a large mobile base? The game has a large variety of building pieces, so you can create the structure of your dreams. By adding a device that can make your base float, you can take off into the skies. But there are also various dangers high above, as you can come across enemy ships that try to shoot you down, or large creatures that like to snack on your new home. There are many ways to fight them off, from the aforementioned magical creatures named guardians, to cannons, ranged weapons, or by boarding them and taking them on with melee combat.
You will be able to play Guardians of the Wild Sky solo or with your friends. However, it sounds like the playtest will be a single-player experience for now. If you want to apply, head over to their website. In a few weeks, an email will be sent to selected players with more details on how to join the test.
