No Man’s Sky is a game that keeps on giving players tons of quality content despite its rocky launch, and the developers are not willing to stop any time soon, even if players beg them to pay for their work. Hello Games launched update 5.0, called Worlds Part 1, which focuses on rebuilding the environment to create more unique planets and realistic weather conditions.
While exploring the vast solar system, you might notice some planets with a distorted gravitational pull. This creates floating islands, and depending on the surroundings below, they can become your next beautiful jungle home or water resort, complete with a majestic waterfall cascading down to the surface. Just don’t question where the infinite water comes from.
The clouds have been reworked to look denser, and when flying above, you can spot darker locations that signal it is raining in that area. They can now also cast a shadow on the ground below, which looks better than ever as they have tweaked the shading of the game.
The bodies of water in No Man’s Sky will now act in a realistic way. Swimming around or throwing something in will create a ripple effect, while a storm kicking in will create dangerous waves that can push you around. However, if you do not want to deal with any of this, you can search for the new frozen planets with unique flora, ice-covered trees, and glacial rocks.
If you want a break from exploration, you can pick up the 14th community expedition, where you have to hunt down a giant bug. This can be started at the Liquidator Vanguard. Completing their elimination task will reward you with a trophy, a poster, components for your Minotaur to create a heavy-duty mech suit, and parts for an organic armor set.
As the name of the update suggests, this is only part 1 of what Hello Games has been planning for No Man’s Sky.
Will you build a new base on the floating islands? Let me know in the comments.
